ARCTIC DESIGN WEEK HAS BECOME A SIGNIFICANT CITY FESTIVAL.
The Design Week combines Arctic expertise with cultural operators, thereby making it possible for townspeople and visitors alike to experience local cultural experiences.
As an umbrella term, Arctic Passion covers the whole range of cultural forms: films, handicrafts and visual arts, literature, dance and music, theatre and other performing arts.
Arctic Passion invites townspeople and visitors from near and far to enjoy cultural and travel experiences at the Arctic Design Week. Art and culture in its most vibrant form has become a permanent part of the Design Week, as we want to make natural Arctic culture and experiences well known.

ARCTIC FESTIVAL CLOSING CEREMONY ON SUNDAY 27 MARCH 2022.
A NEW LOOK AND GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE
Arctic Passion is held in different venues in Rovaniemi during the Arctic Design Week, from Monday to Sunday. It’s worth checking the programme for the week, as even small performances can be discovered within different programmes, for example in the Design Forums.
ARCTIC FESTIVAL IS FOR EVERYONE!
Arctic Design Week culminates with the Arctic Festival closing ceremony will be held on Sunday evening. The event is highlighted with the Arctic Fashion Show, an event for the whole family. This visual and Arctic experience is entertaining and captivating. The fashion show is organised by the owner of Fashion Model Agency, Merja Kupiainen-Groundstroem.

MULTISENSORY EXPERIENCES
Arctic Passion is offered in a number of forms throughout the week!
MOVIES
Arctic Design Week features a wide range of long and short movies filmed in the Arctic. Included are a number of short films about the indigenous peoples of the Arctic, and other short productions of the Valve Film School. The programme will be published later.

Arctic Design Week includes the Nordic film of the month.
EXHIBITIONS AND ART
Art in its many shapes and forms can be found during the Arctic Design Week, for instance, at the art exhibitions held at numerous cultural venues and in shopping centres. These exhibitions are listed separately as long-lasting events under the programme.
The Mahdoton Kaupunki (A Strange Place) exhibition of Anna-Kaisa Vuonokari opens in Studio Mustanapa on 14 March 2020.
MUSIC
Music is part of the festivities, as many Arctic Design Week events are spiced up by local and international music.

Dance
Arctic Passion is also a festival of dance where participants are encouraged to savour culture with mind and body.

THEATRE AND PERFORMANCES
Living art and experiences during the week of culture is offered by Rovaniemi Theatre in the form of springtime performances during Arctic Design Week.
The photograph was taken from the 2014 performance of Vera by the theatre group Aurore B. During the Arctic Passion week, Aurore B’s play, Everstinna, is performed based on the work by Rosa Liksom.
LITERATURE
In cooperation with the Rovaniemi City Library, Arctic Design Week offers an inspiring collection of poetry, short stories and tales. A narrative storytelling culture in worded form is an integral part of the Arctic region that is highlighted in Arctic design and services.
The Literary Art Club of the Rovaniemi City Library participates in the Arctic Design Week event.
