Sari Huttunen is a origami artist from Ylivieska and during the design week she opens an origami exhibition to Pilke Science Centre. Name of the exhibition is “Pohjoisen polkuja” (Northern paths) and it collects together example origami works that are made of old maps.

The city of Yamaguchi is in the western Japan, and with its 200 000 inhabitants it is considered a small rural capital of the Yamaguchi prefecture. Yamaguchi holds an important role in the Japanese history and many historically significant buildings have remained in the city to date.
Vaana displays a collective look on this arctic scarcity through designers’ view. The products in the exhibition display the experience of seeing only a few remaining rays of light during the day through interactive measures. Fennia Prize, organized every second year, is one of the biggest design competitions in Finland. It is organized by the design promotion organization Design Forum Finland, the Fennia Group, Elo, and the Finnish Patent and Registration Office. After Helsinki, the exhibition will come to Arctic Design Week in Rovaniemi.
In 1841, The French artist Francois-Auguste Biard painted artworks where the Duke of Orleans travels to Lapland with an expedition in 1795. The artworks show how the French scientists were interested in Lapland in early times and there were important people on the journeys. These artworks have never been on display in Lapland or even in Finland. Free entrance! Welcome
During the course of his lengthy career, sculptor Kari Huhtamo has always been extremely open-minded with his methods and materials, as well as a true experimenter. Textiles have been no exception.
